About this Yogabout Getaway
Be delighted at the scenic views over the picturesque Sailors Creek on a 16km circuit walk the under magnificent gums. The walk follows the Goldfield Dry Diggings Track (formerly known as the Great Dividing Trail) within Hepburn Regional Park. Whilst walking imagine a bygone era as you pass old water races cut by miners’ last century and their abandoned goldfields. Marvel at the deciduous trees that blaze with colour in autumn and the indigenous paper daisies that dot the landscape in the spring and autumn. Taste the nutrient rich bubbly mineral water at Tipperary Springs and use the large stepping stones to cross Sailors Creek at Bryces Flat.
Daily yoga practices will incorporate asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing), yoga nidra (relaxation), karma yoga (mindfulness and awareness), meditation, nada yoga (sound therapy), and forest bathing (awareness in/of nature).
Accommodation is at the authentic Rocklyn Yoga Ashram located at 393 Dean Barkstead Road, Rocklyn, in the heart of Wombat State Forest, only 20 mins drive from Daylesford and 11/2 hr from Melbourne CBD. Please be prepared to drive yourself from the Ashram to the start of the walk, a distance of approximately 11km.
Cost is inclusive of all meals, accommodation, yoga classes including yoga nidra, guided bushwalks, live relaxing piano or sound bowls or didgeridoo, and fire ceremony. Cost from $580.Â
Program
Arrive and register on Friday anytime between 3pm and 5pm. Meet and greet each other at 5.30pm before a wholesome dinner at 6pm. After dinner relax listening to live piano and let go during a lying down guided relaxation called Yoga Nidra that is more efficient and effective as a psychic and physiological rest and rejuvenation than conventional sleep.
On Saturday morning (6.30am) after a restful sleep connect mind, body and breath in a gentle yoga class, enjoy a nutritious breakfast, and participate in Karma Yoga with head, heart and hands. Drive yourself 11km to the walk start, then step out with Annie on the 16km Sailors Creek circuit walk, incorporating Lake Daylesford and lunch either at Splinters Cafe or a picnic by the creek along the way depending on the weather.Â
At 5.30pm we participate in a unique fire ceremony (Havan) with Ashram residents. The Havan is performed for peace, prosperity, health and happiness for all people and the environment. After another healthy dinner find harmony whilst listening to sound vibrations (relaxing live piano).
On Sunday waken to a new day (6.30am) with a calming yoga class and then join Ashram residents in their daily morning chanting followed by breakfast and Karma Yoga. Today we undertake a slower paced forest walk where we take time to listen to the sounds of the forest, become aware of the sun filtering through the trees, smell the scent of the gum trees, feel the cool/warm air on our skins, the earth under our feet, and listen to the sounds of nature. We return in time to rest, enjoy some morning tea, Yoga Nidra and a nourishing lunch. After lunch rest in the peace and tranquility of the Ashram environment surrounded by nature and then enjoy some afternoon tea at 2pm prior to departing.
Please note the program may be modified during inclement weather.
