Calm the Mind

Escape from the business of daily life, disconnect from technology and surround yourself with positive energy by getting outdoors in the fresh air.

All Yogabout Getaways whether it be a weekend or a day adventure include Yoga Nidra a form of guided deep relaxation that is said to be more efficient and effective as a psychic and physiological rest and rejuvenation than conventional sleep. It is said a single hour of Yoga Nidra is as restful as four hours of sleep.

On a weekend Getaway experience sound therapy which has been used in various forms by cultures the world over. Australian aboriginal tribes used the didgeridoo as a sound healing instrument. Ancient instruments such as the Tibetan/Himalayan singing bowls are still used in religious and spiritual ceremonies. On a Yogabout Getaway you will lie down and immerse yourself in the sounds of evocative relaxing piano.

Listen to your Soul

Throughout life we undertake many different journeys. Sometimes we travel for purely for pleasure, sometimes we face challenges that make us stronger, sometimes we travel to explore and learn, and sometimes we explore our spiritual nature. In all of our journeys, whatever form they take, we grow and become wiser.

An ancient aboriginal initiation ritual involved male aboriginal teenagers devoting time to discovering themselves by undertaking a long spiritual hike across the land where they would get in touch with their spiritual guides for guidance. Whiteman named it a “walkabout”.

There is a lot we can learn from the land that surrounds us and the best way to acquire that knowledge is by traveling and experiencing. (Walkabout Magazine)

These Yogabout Getaways are located on Dja Dja Wurrung and Wadawurrung country. Yogabout acknowledges the elders past and present who have cared for caring for this country.

A BIT ABOUT YOGABOUT

Yogabout Getaways are a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and wonder that nature has to offer, with a hint of guidance and inspiration in regional Victoria.

We understand that the time and space to escape from the hustle and bustle of life can be in limited supply, which is why we provide short one day and weekend getaways around Daylesford, in close proximity to Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat.

All walks and yoga are guided by Yogabout founder Annie Warmbrunn who is an experienced bushwalker and yoga instructor. Annie has walked many of Australia's remote trails including the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail (SA), the Overlander (TAS), Carnarvon Gorge (Qld), Jatbula Trail (NT), and the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island (Qld). She has also completed the Annapurna Circuit and Langtang Valley treks in Nepal.

Her passion for walking resulted in her being involved in the planning of the 160km Grampians Peaks Trail and the 106km Noosa Trail Network in Queensland. Annie is also involved in managing the water quality testing of Victoria's publicly accessible mineral springs and the preparation of a new master plan.

Annie went to her first yoga class 30 years ago which was the beginning of a lifelong journey of self-discovery. She has practiced in India and teaches in the Satyananda yoga tradition.  In mid-2018 Anne was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma, and thus is well aware of how important it is to take care of both your body and mind, to take time out to heal and be present. Exploring the many tracks winding through the Wombat Forest helped Annie in her recovery and provided the inspiration to develop Yogabout which was established in late 2020.

Annie looks forward to sharing her passion for walking and yoga with you.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to give Annie a call or send her an email.

Thank you Annie for a great weekend. Although I had stepped out of my comfort zone I felt completely at ease the whole time. Our walks through the forest, clean healthy food and gentle yoga left me feeling rejuvenated and inspired to incorporate some new healthy habits into my life. I was very impressed with my first experience of life in an Ashram and your thoughtful touches added an extra layer of comfort. I will definitely be visiting you again

You have a beautiful presence Annie, Friendly, warm & flexible. You guided whilst giving people some choice. Listening to your voice, particularly with eyes closed and following your instructions felt safe and liberating. I LOVED the piano. There were so many different ways of grounding yourself in the present and calming the mind and body offered.

Cathy Warburton

Fantastic opportunity to experience the Ashram life, slow down reconnect and still the mind. Daily yoga and bush walks in the peaceful wombat state forest with others in your group was fabulous. Annie and Alicja are very friendly and accommodating guides. The daily yoga nidra was a highlight and Annie’s nightly piano playing accompanied by sound healing singing bowls was a real treat. The food was delicious, the environment very peaceful and accommodation comfortable. I definitely recommend this retreat and I look forward to returning for another yogabout experience. Thankyou so much
